How Calculus at Brightfox works

Your student can take a free diagnostic exam to measure knowledge of PreCalc, or just recent Calculus topics, to help create a more accurate program.

At Brightfox, you buy a package of tutoring hours, or credits, that you can use on any service we offer. Test prep (SAT, ACT, AP), schoolwork tutoring (Math, Science, English, History), and college counseling / essay writing. Have other kids in the family? Hours can be used on them, too. There's a four year expiration. Get help in anything you need help with. Nothing you buy will go to waste!

At Brightfox, you can choose the tutoring format that works best for your family. Local to San Ramon? Join us in person, online, or mix a both, e.g. online on Thursday and in-person on Tuesday. Live farther away or prefer the convenience of home? Our online sessions deliver the same personalized support wherever you are.

Scheduling at Brightfox is simple and flexible. Just choose the subject, and all available time slots appear. You can book the same slot each week for consistency or change it up week to week. Do more sessions before a big exam, or take a break during vacation. Sessions run six days a week, in-person and online.

When booking a session, you can choose to share what you'd like your student to focus on—whether that's specific topics or uploaded files. This allows the instructor to review materials in advance, saving valuable time during the session. It also creates a more collaborative experience, ensuring each session is tailored to your student's needs.

Brightfox is a 2:1 student to teacher ratio with the instructor alternating. It's not a traditional group class. It's 1:1 instruction followed by independent practice to assess student understanding.

Brightfox offers two main ways for students to get extra practice outside of tutoring sessions. Instructors can assign homework—extra practice problems your student can complete anytime at home, included free as part of the program. Students may also take chapter tests about once a month to track progress in class.

You'll always have clear insights into your student's progress. After every session, our instructors send a summary note. By default, it's texted to you instantly, so you know exactly what was covered without needing to log in anywhere.

At Brightfox, you always have a team of directors ready to support you—available by phone, text, email, or a scheduled video call. Whether you'd like to check in on your student's progress, talk through their AP exam plan, or make adjustments for the months ahead, we're here to help.
