Buy tutoring hours, use on anything

At Brightfox, you buy a package of tutoring hours, or credits, that you can use on any service we offer. Test prep (SAT, ACT, AP), schoolwork tutoring (Math, Science, English, History), and college counseling/essay writing. Have other kids in the family? Hours can be used on them, too. There’s a four-year expiration. Get help with anything you need help with. Nothing you buy will go to waste!

We believe that the right mentor can make all the difference in the college essay process. That’s why we take a thoughtful, personalized approach to pairing each student with a college counselor. We consider factors like scheduling, communication style, and overall personality to ensure a strong, collaborative fit.

Our goal is to create a trusted, one-on-one partnership—so students feel supported, confident, and empowered.

Scheduling at Brightfox is simple and flexible. Just choose the subject, and all available time slots appear. You can book the same slot each week for consistency or change it up week to week. Do more sessions before a major college application deadline, or take a break during vacation. Sessions run six days a week, in-person and online.

Book your first meeting

Brightfox sessions are a 2:1 student-to-teacher ratio, with the instructor alternating. It’s not a group class. Our instructor works directly with your student, one on one, teaching them Algebra 2 concepts using our proprietary curriculum or their class-specific materials. Once they have a solid grasp of a concept, they complete either their homework, or one of our quizzes so we can measure their ability to complete the work independently.

During this time, the instructor rotates to the second student, who is working on a different subject altogether (perhaps Calculus). The instructor will return to your student, evaluate how they performed, and correct any errors. If ready, they will move on to the next topic. If they struggled, we’ll stay on the same topic as long as needed.

How we help 8th-11th graders

Our college counselors work with 8th–11th graders to lay the groundwork for a confident and successful application journey. At this stage, it’s not about chasing perfection—it’s about building a meaningful academic and extracurricular path that reflects each student’s unique interests and values.

We offer guidance on course selection, activity planning, summer enrichment, and early college research. Whether a student is exploring potential majors, unsure how to spend their summers, or just starting to think about college, we help them make thoughtful, strategic choices that set them up for success in 12th grade and beyond. By starting early, students not only reduce stress later on—they also discover what excites and motivates them.

How we help 12th graders

We help students highlight their strengths, understand what different colleges are really looking for, and approach each part of the application—from the Common App to interviews—with confidence and intention. Whether a student is aiming for competitive universities, exploring a wide range of options, or applying early decision, our counselors provide tailored support to help them make smart, informed choices throughout senior year.
